Promjena ishrane je stvarna i mjerljiva. To je također područje gdje unutar-kategorijska varijacija najčešće premašuje razliku između kategorija o kojoj se ljudima govori.

Šta je robusno

Jedan nalaz preživljava svaku metodološku raspravu: govedina i janjetina imaju daleko veće emisije po jedinici proteina od bilo čega drugog, prvenstveno kroz enterički metan i korištenje zemljišta. Mlijeko slijedi. Sve ostalo je daleko iza.

Pregledi ekološki zaštitnih dijeta [4] i dijetetskih obrazaca procijenjenih zajedno za zdravlje i održivost [1] potvrđuju da je smanjenje proizvoda od preživača najveći dijetetski poluga, i da se obično usklađuje sa zdravstvenim preporukama umjesto da se sukobljava s njima.

Ispod nivoa preživača, jednostavne rang liste se raspadaju. Procjena životnog ciklusa specifičnih proizvoda pokazuje da varijacija unutar kategorije često premašuje varijaciju između kategorija — proizvođači s najvećim uticajem niskog uticaja hrane mogu premašiti proizvođače s najnižim uticajem visoko uticajne hrane.

Dodatna poteškoća ovdje je što je broj ugljika daleko manje standardizovan nego broj nutritivnih vrijednosti. Dva proizvođača mogu izračunati vrlo različite brojeve za isti proizvod koristeći opravdive metode, što čini usporedbu između proizvoda nesigurnijom nego što oznaka sugerira.
