Le classement réel

La comptabilité basée sur la consommation attribue les émissions incorporées dans tout ce qu'un ménage consomme, y compris les importations. C'est la manière honnête de compter, et cela produit un classement que les conseils aux consommateurs inversent largement.

La ligne de chauffage est là où les ménages européens ont la plus grande opportunité unique, et les économies d'émissions des pompes à chaleur ont leur propre littérature [4]. C'est aussi le plus capitalistique, ce qui explique pourquoi il est sous-représenté dans les conseils destinés aux individus.

Composition de l'empreinte des ménages

Les calculateurs de carbone fonctionnent-ils ?

Les calculateurs ont été évalués formellement [1], et le résumé honnête est qu'ils sont éducatifs plutôt que des instruments de comptabilité. Deux calculateurs alimentés par des entrées identiques diffèrent régulièrement de manière substantielle, car ils font des hypothèses différentes sur l'intensité du réseau, les émissions incorporées, l'allocation et les limites du système.

Cela ne les rend pas inutiles. Voir qu'un seul vol pèse plus qu'une année de recyclage diligent est une mise à jour authentique et utile, et c'est une conclusion que presque personne n'arrive à tirer sans aide. Utilisez l'ordre, pas les chiffres.

Changement de comportement, et ses limites

Les interventions en faveur du comportement pro-environnemental ont été largement étudiées. Les résultats reflètent le changement de comportement partout ailleurs : l'information seule change peu, les choix par défaut et le changement structurel fonctionnent mieux que l'exhortation, et les effets s'estompent sans renforcement — le même schéma que notre site sur la perte de poids rapporte pour un domaine complètement différent.

Ce qui plaide en faveur de décisions structurelles uniques — isolation, pompe à chaleur, la prochaine voiture, où vous vivez par rapport au travail — plutôt que de micro-choix quotidiens qui nécessitent une attention continue.

La consommation des ménages entraîne une grande part des émissions industrielles. Le cadre comme un choix entre action individuelle et action structurelle est faux.
