El rànquing real

La comptabilització basada en el consum atribueix les emissions incorporades en tot el que una llar consumeix, incloent-hi les importacions. Aquesta és la manera honesta de comptar, i produeix un rànquing que els consells per als consumidors inverteixen en gran mesura.

La fila de calefacció és on les llars europees tenen l'oportunitat única més gran, i els estalvis d'emissions de les bombes de calor tenen la seva pròpia literatura [4]. També és la més intensiva en capital, que és per què està poc representada en els consells dirigits a individus.

Funcionen els calculadors de carboni?

Els calculadors han estat avaluats formalment [1], i el resum honest és que són instruments educatius més que instruments de comptabilització. Dos calculadors que reben entrades idèntiques difereixen substancialment de manera rutinària, perquè fan diferents supòsits sobre la intensitat de la xarxa, les emissions incorporades, l'assignació i els límits del sistema.

Això no els fa inútils. Veure que un sol vol supera un any de reciclatge diligent és una actualització genuïna i útil, i és una que gairebé ningú arriba a fer sense ajuda. Utilitza l'ordenació, no els dígits.

Canvi de comportament, i els seus límits

Les intervencions de comportament proambiental han estat estudiades àmpliament. Els resultats reflecteixen el canvi de comportament a tot arreu: la informació per si sola canvia poc, els predeterminats i el canvi estructural funcionen millor que l'exhortació, i els efectes disminueixen sense reforç — el mateix patró que el nostre lloc sobre pèrdua de pes informa per a un domini completament diferent.

El que argumenta a favor de decisions estructurals d'una sola vegada — aïllament, una bomba de calor, el proper cotxe, on vius en relació amb la feina — sobre microeleccions diàries que requereixen atenció contínua.

Preguntes comunes

Quina és la cosa més gran que puc fer?
Depèn de les teves circumstàncies. Per a la majoria de les llars europees: calefacció, després ús del cotxe, després vols, després dieta.
És inútil reciclar?
No, i és petit en relació amb els quatre grans. Fer-ho no substitueix per ells.
Són precisos els calculadors de carboni?
Porten una gran incertesa i discrepen entre ells [1]. Utilitza'ls per a rànquing, no per a un número.
Importa l'acció individual si la indústria emet més?
El consum domèstic impulsa una gran part de les emissions industrials. El marc com a elecció entre acció individual i estructural és fals.
