Vale la pena farlo, e costantemente sovrastimato dal pubblico rispetto al riscaldamento, ai trasporti e alla dieta.
Cosa mostra realmente l'evidenza
Gli studi sulla percezione pubblica trovano ripetutamente che il riciclaggio è valutato tra le azioni climatiche personali più efficaci, mentre il calcolo dell'impronta lo colloca ben al di sotto delle scelte energetiche, di trasporto e alimentari. [1]
Questo reclamo è molto più sicuro in pubblico che nella letteratura. Viene ripetuto perché è intuitivo e commercialmente utile, non perché gli studi lo supportino a quel livello.
Il problema
Il rischio è la sostituzione: fare la piccola cosa visibile e sentirsi a posto. Questo bias dell'azione singola è di per sé un fenomeno documentato.
